Zuke

Name:
Dave

Nickname:
Zuke

Title(s):
1st in PIMP Tourney APR'04, 2nd in GEPPI Spring'03, 3rd in GEPPI Fall'03

How'd you get your nickname/what does it mean?:
Nothing to do with poker and everything to do with too much drinking the night I got hired as a DJ at our local watering hole. The waitresses inducted me...the next night I came to work and my brother, the bouncer, nicknamed me. Only fair, since he had to mop up my mess. Heartwarming, huh?

Favorite game to deal:
Jacks are better, trips to win - Progressive openers, progressive ante's - Rise & fall.
Scares the poop out of people who don't play regularly.

Any famous poker players you admire?:
Gotta be Daniel Negreanu: www.fullcontactpoker.com
I like that he gives back to the poker community and shares a lot of strategy. And he seems to really be at the top of his game now too and being so young, he's got a loooooong career ahead of him. I like his style of play: aggressive at times, but friendly and haveing fun, but at times very analytical too.

You're playing poker, whatcha drinkin'?:
Captain & Diet Coke or Dos Equis Dark. Also, a shot or two of SoCo with Jerry.

Your best played hand ever, that you can remember:
With apologies to Dale, it'd have to be the GEPPI where I took him out in the first 5 minutes. Got dealt pocket 9's. Raised slightly to get people out of the hand. He called, as did a couple others. Flop came 9-J-rag (three suits). I made the set. He bet a decent amount, getting the others out. I just called, knowing he probably made a pair of jacks. He didn't bet enough to have pocket J's and the set yet. So, I called hoping to trap him later. Turn comes another Jack. Now I figure he's got his Trip Jack's. But that gives me the Full House (Trip 9's and the pair of J's on the board). No way he's made me for that. He bets huge, half my chips at least. I, of course, raise all-in. He quickly calls. I turn over the 9's Full of Jacks and he about crapped himself. River didn't help and he was out.

To Dale's credit, he's knoced me out of tourney after tourney then!

Your worst:
Too numerous to mention. Haven't memorized them. Probably the recent meteoric rise and even quicker fall I experienced at my own tourney in Feb.'05. But anytime I lose to a draw, when I'm the favorite, it hurts bad.

Who gets your goat at the poker tables? Who would you just love to break at the tables?:
Lately, its been Dale (and he loves that). Used to be Wade...but I finally conquered that. Jason always seems to take me down when he shows up at a game.

Are you anyone's goat that you know of? Anyone you know that YOU get to and if not anyone you'd like to pester?:
I think I get to a few people. I know I've set BillyRay/Dale down his recent path of revenge! Tom G. I think has had just about enough of me the least few tourneys!

Let's hear your "poker resume'"; Place in any tourney's? Played poker in Vegas or at the Rockford games? You up or down in your poker career?:
Took 1st in my own tourney twice, failing to make the final table in the most recent one. Took 1st in a single-table $100-a-person Rockford Charity game. Two GEPPI's in a row, I took 2nd and 3rd respectively. Haven't been to a final table in quite some time though.

Play online? Where at?:
PartyPoker. Mostly the $5 & $10 single table sit-n-go's. I have also won a couple $20 Multi-table games. I should play more of those!

Choose your own 'Celebrity Poker Showdown' table of 5 to play with (YOU are the 6th):
Penn Jillette (ez pickens - but a cool guy), Lauren Graham (ez on the eyes), David Cross (funny as hell), Jeffrey Ross (funnier then hell), Jon Favreau (cool guy/poker player).

Think you'll ever play at the WSOP and since you'll say YES - is that a *goal* or a dream?:
Goal. When I'm older and my kids (when I have them) are grown and maybe the TV popularity will have dwindled a bit. Unlike sports, you can't be too old to play your best at poker.
