How'd you get your nickname/what does it mean?:
It means I'm totally uncool...even though I was the first that I know, to host a Hold 'em tournament: The GEPPI. Most of the guys here cut their teeth as Hold 'em players at the GEPPI.
Tommer: It's an anti-nickname. I've never had a good nickname and this is a sarcastic attempt at humor. "Hey, it's the Tommer!" Could anything be more stupid?
[Editor's Note: Little does Tom know we've recently bestowed him with JJ (JJ=JimmyJohn's or Jimmy "J.J." Walker)
Why? Because the man, the myth, the legend who started this whole thing with his
now famous GEPPI tournament deserves a cool nickname! "DYN-O-MITE!"]
Favorite game to deal:
Gotta love the cross!
Any famous poker players you admire?:
Doyle Brunson.....cooler than cool.
TJ Coutier - the man, the myth, the legend.
They've seen it all, done it all.
You're playing poker, whatcha drinkin'?:
Cold, glorious beer. Not too much, just enough to keep
it real........'I drunk better when I poker'.
Your best played hand ever, that you can remember:
To win the GEPPI, I slow-played a straight after the river
against trip aces(?). Got him to go all in and took him
down for the victory. What a rush!
Your worst:
Too many to name. Knocked out of a GEPPI once, with queen high flush
by an ace high flush.
Who gets your goat at the poker tables? Who would you just love to break at the tables?:
No one really gets my goat. I hate all of you equally.
Who would I like to break?
I'd have to say Gary B. He's come up with some hands against me
like you can't believe.......four nines ring any bells?
How 'bout four kings?
Are you anyone's goat that you know of? Anyone you know that YOU get to and if not anyone you'd like to pester?:
Not usually at tournaments. At regular games when I have too much
to drink, I get on everyone's nerves.
Let's hear your "poker resume'"; Place in any tourney's? Played poker in Vegas or at the Rockford games? You up or down in your poker career?:
One GEPPI championship. I don't count any other places in tourneys.
Played a little in Vegas a few months back.
$2-$4 and $4-$8....way too long and drawn out. Too many guys stay in all
the time...there's no bluffing. It's just not the same.
For my career, if you count pre and post tourney
action, I'm up. For some reason, I thrive on the
satellites. If you only count the tourneys themselves, I'm
probably even or a little down.
Play online? Where at?:
I have never played on line. I know that if I ever start, I'll never
stop. Bet-ba-bet-ba-bet-bet-bet! I've heard too many '3:00am tourney'
stories from all you on-line guys...not that you have a problem!
Choose your own 'Celebrity Poker Showdown' table of 5 to play with (YOU are the 6th):
Sorry, I need nine, and you can't stop me.
Think you'll ever play at the WSOP and since you'll say YES - is that a *goal* or a dream?:
LOVE TO! I think it's half goal, and half dream. At this point, I know
I'm not good enough to compete. If I can't consistantly beat the likes
of all of you, how am I going to make it at the WSOP? But maybe in the
future if I get serious about my game. I DO love playing!
